Blackberry, Smartphones & Living Life!
Using Prepaid Sim Cards in Smartphones
I’m a Smartphone Geek so without really having to say it I own several smartphones. I want to talk about a few advantages and disadvantages of using Prepaid Sim Cards in selected Smartphones.
I have used two Wireless Carriers Prepaid Sim Cards, T-Mobile and AT&T.
T-Mobile
Devices: Blackberry - iPhone (Must be Unlocked) – Sidekick
Advantages
- The ability to use multiple phones at a controlled cost to you
- TMobile offers free calls on the pay by the day from 7pm to 7am every night to any phone number as well as Free TMobile to TMobile calls anytime and you are charged $1 a day only if you use the phone that day
- Sidekick users can pick the sidekick plan and get unlimited texting, IM, EMails and internet for $1 a day only if you use the phone that day
NOTE: Would only use with a Wi-fi Capable Smartphone or you will not have access to internet
Disadvantages
- No Data Service (Internet) with Tmobile on Blackberry or iPhone
- No Text Packages to purchase if you’re a SMS or MMS user you are charged for each individual SMS or MMS
Prepaid Plans: Great value, flexible options.
Get everything you want in a wireless plan—without an annual contract, credit check, or a monthly bill! Buy a Prepaid phone kit now; when you receive the phone, activate it online and choose one of our two Prepaid plans

AT&T
Devices: Blackberry - iPhone – Sidekick (Must be Sim Unlocked) – Nokia E62 – Treos
Advantages
- The ability to use multiple phones at a controlled cost to you
- Offers free AT&T to AT&T calls on the pay by the day and you are charged $1 a day only if you use the phone that day
- Sidekick/Blackberry users can use the phone feature and SMS
- iPhone/Nokia/Treo users can used MediaNet Data Services
- SMS/MMS Packages available for purchase (saves on being charged for individual SMS/MMS)
Disadvantages
- No Data Service (Internet) with the Blackberry/Sidekick
- No Free calling for nights or weekends without purchasing extra packages
- MediaNet packages though available involve low usage and high costs, AT&T has eliminated it’s Unlimited Monthly prepaid MediaNet Package
