Earnestly Speaking: The Blackberry Nervous Tick
Very recently, I went out to dinner with a close friend of mine. Of course, she is a fellow Blackberry User. Allow me to say right now that the experience was not only quite annoying but enlightening.
The drive to the restaurant was fun, we chatted laughed and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Once we arrived at the restaurant were seated, let’s just say the atmosphere certainly changed for the worst. We ordered our drinks and meals and we began to chat - well, I don’t know if we were chatting. I was running my mouth but I didn’t seem to have a willing audience. This girl just kept glancing down and over at her Blackberry 8900, sitting on the table like it was about to get up and quickly run away . The phone LED wasn’t lighting up it wasn’t doing anything but sitting there minding it’s own business. Every 10-20 seconds or so she would divert her eyes down and over to her Blackberry on the table. I could not keep her attention no matter what I said. It looked like she had a nervous tick or something, glance at me, glance down and look over at the Blackberry. After about 10-15 minutes of this I wanted to slap her, tell her to shake it off and get a grip but instead our food arrived looking and smelling good.
While enjoying our meal she would take a bite or two, reach over and actually pick her Blackberry up as though she were sure she’d missed a very important message. At this point, I realized trying to hold a conversation was futile and I decided to enjoy my meal. I definitely wasn’t enjoying my girlfriend’s company. After eating we would normally sit and talk about anything and everything but tonight I made an excuse about being overly tired so we left the restaurant directly after eating.
I waited a day or two to have a conversation about our dinner date. That conversation absolutely had to take place. I won’t go into long details about the conversation but Blackberry Addiction is real, right now she’s in the denial phase of her addiction. I am even the more enlightened when it comes to Blackberry Love and Blackberry Dependency. Earnestly Speaking Blackberry Addiction and “The Blackberry Nervous Tick” are a reality for many everyday!

That’s not surprising to me at all. I’ve noticed this Nervous Tick with Iphone, BB, Android and let’s just say I think it’s a smartphone Tick that really needs professional treatment. I love my BB but truly I have learned that I’m second best when I’m with anyone that has a Smartphone. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my article! ~~Ernestine~~
