Water and Sweet Treats
After I wrote my first article in the “Charm’s Weight Loss Journey” series, I received questions about tips on how to successfully lose weight. So here I am with this new series of winning tips I’ve learned in my journey thus far. Here goes…
Tip # 1: Water! Water! Water!
It is extremely important that you drink at least six glasses of water a day. I try to drink at least 10 per day. Water refreshes me and also helps to flush out my system. I find if I don’t drink my water consistently for the week, I don’t make my weight loss goal of two pounds per week.
Not a fan of water? Then add a little flavor to it. I love to use water beverage mixes like Crystal Light, Propel, and Hawaiian Punch. The calories are very low (often only 5 to 10 calories a serving) and you’re meeting your water requirement for the day in a fun tasty way. I also love to drink Aquafina FlavorSplash water. They’re naturally flavored water beverages and are absolutely no calories! When I’m drinking them I forget I’m even drinking water!
Tip # 2: Got a Sweet Tooth?
I know I get a craving for something sweet all the time. I have several tasty treats that don’t go straight to my waistline.
- Caramel corn rice cakes
They are low in fat and calories, only about 50 calories, and quite sweet. One satisfies my sweet tooth nicely.
- Skinny Cow ice cream treats
I do enjoy having my ice cream and Skinny Cow offers a variety of ice cream treats that include fudge bars and ice cream sandwiches. I love having them as a low fat sweet treat in the summertime.
- Weight Watchers snack cakes
Who can resist moist chocolate cake filled with luscious chocolate cream topped with chocolate frosting? Or a yellow cake filled with lemony cream topped with an equally lemony sweet frosting? They’re absolutely delicious and very low in calories! I have one when I feel like having some cake without the guilt. They truly are a wonderfully low calorie indulgence.
- Yoplait Delights 100 calorie yogurt parfaits
Want something creamy and decadent without the guilt? I grab a yogurt parfait. My favorite is caramel and it feels sinful to have them. They’re only 100 calories and quite satisfying.
Trying any of these tips will help you win the weight loss battle!

I try! Losing weight is a battle and I have to be strategic about eating. It’s also a lifestyle change for me and not a diet. I want to keep the weight off and be healthier. I also want to enjoy what I’m eating so I’m always on the look for yummy food low in fat.
