Will Work for RIM – Mine is Better than Yours!

Hello fellow readers.  Are you or are you not sick of all these phone arguments?  I don’t know about you guys but I am sick of hearing that this phone is better than that one.

The other day I was at work and a customer was looking at the new HTC EVO 4G.  I asked him if needed help and he gave me the typical answer, “just looking.”  I could tell that he had the passion for gadgets.  We started to talk about the EVO.  We are sharing with each other both the pros and cons of the device and the software.  Mind you we didn’t even use another phone to compare the EVO to nor did we even think about it.

THEN HE ASKED THE BIG QUESTION.  ”What kind of phone do you use?”

I told him the “Blackberry Curve 8520.”  He gives me the weirdest look and then starts to ramble on and on about how the Blackberry is horrible compared to the EVO.   How the Blackberry should’ve done this and that and blah, blah, blah! Meanwhile, I’m listening to him rambling.  Before I go on I want to make something clear.  I love Blackberry, Android, Apple, Symbian, and Windows Mobile.  I love them all!

I know enough to do minor work on all Blackberry devices because I have worked on lots of previous models in the past.  I love each device and its software for the different things that they can do.  I have been using blackberry since the 7290.  I love the push email, BBM, every little thing about the software.  I love Android for the simple fact that you can fully customize it to your needs.  I love the new Snapdragon processor!  I love the fact that Apple now has multitasking and their new Facetime calling application. I could go on and on. The point is, the blackberry has everything that I need and has always been there for me.  Just like your device will always be there for you.  Some of you might think that this is a rant.  In the end am I not right?

Before I close I’d like to share a short story with you.  A customer started on a Verizon Plan a little over a month ago and got a Motorola Droid.  The Droid had everything that he needed and wanted.  Recently he came into the store wanting to cancel his Verizon account and start a Sprint account just because he wanted the new HTC EVO 4G.  He had gone over his 30 day return period so he had to pay an ETF.  He spent $200 on the HTC EVO 4G and on top of that he paid the extra $24 for his own hotspot.  Really?  I understand the whole “it’s your money so you do what you want with it.”  This was a kid who was spoiled and got what he wanted just so he can be “cooler” than his friends and their cell phones.

Well, feel free to leave your comments and thoughts.

Peace and Blessings to all.

Gabe
