Hello fellow readers, the past couple of weeks have been kind of crazy and hectic. There was the hype of the Blackberry Torch last week. The week before that I was super busy with work. LET’S TALK BLACKBERRY!!
I am uber (yes uber) excited about the torch coming out soon. I love RIM and they need to release a device ASAP. I’m excited because Blackberry OS6 will be available for the Bold 9700. My concern is if the software will run smoothly. The 9700 does not have enough memory in comparison to the Torch and the 9650 so I’m sure that they will have to remove some features. I can’t wait to try it on my 9700.
The night after the live blogging of the AT&T & Blackberry Party, I was talking to my good friend Will Duran and he had some very interesting thoughts on the Torch and RIM.
Here is what Will had to say:
“RIM has an advantage over Apple and Google because RIM has more than one customer base. RIM has their business customers and the average consumer. RIM can take advantage of their decline in customer numbers. They can continue to make phones like the Bold 9700 and market them to businesses while using the Torch to compete with the likes of Apple and Google. The Torch is the most media centric phone they’ve ever made and they can continue to use their brand name to make phones that really show what RIM can do.
Some of the software and hardware of the Torch is just not what a high end cell phone should be. We know RIM is releasing the BlackPad (hopefully with a different name). They can use the BlackPad to introduce a faster processor and higher resolution display. RIM can make the Torch a device that draws the consumers and really takes RIM to the next level. The Torch could be the device that re-opens the door for RIM and re-introduces the world to what RIM is all about. No one does messaging like RIM and no one has the same level of integration that RIM has with its phones. RIM proved to the world that they can offer a media focused phone that can really compete with any high end phone out there.
No one can out iPhone except the iPhone and likewise no one can out Android except Android. No one can out BlackBerry except BlackBerry, but RIM has the advantage over both of them. RIM makes phones for 2 types of customers and if they do it right, they will win them both back.
Since the original iPhone everyone has tried to come up with the iPhone Killer. What RIM needs to do is make THE iPhone alternative that everyone is going to want.”
Will, I thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with me and my readers. I think that at this point we are all in for a very exciting ride. Not just us Blackberry users, but Android and iPhone users as well.
I have come to the end of another article. If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to express yourself, feel free to leave a comment.
Peace & Blessings to all.
