Continue reading »]]> Abuse In Marriage – Pay Attention to the Signs

“Abuse can be defined as to treat a person with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly; Treat in such a way as to cause damage or harm;  Speak to in an insulting and offensive way;  Cruel and violent treatment of a person on a repeated basis.”

When I was dating my ex-husband he would say things to me and about me that were very negative or derogatory.  I knew that the things he was saying made me feel bad and that it wasn’t right.  Yes, I did address it whenever it happened, that was in the beginning.  He never seemed sorry or remorseful for the things he’d say even when I brought it to his attention.  What he did do is say I was making a big deal out of nothing.  I was being too sensitive.  This verbal abuse only got worse with time and I began to get used to it.  I never liked it but I accepted it.  This was my first sign of trouble and I completely ignored it.  I knew it was wrong and did nothing about it. 

Pay attention to the signs…
