Continue reading »]]> I noticed that in having a Wi-Fi only iPad because it’s not connected to a network like a cellphone or the 3G iPad it does not have a way to sync the correct time.  So after awhile the time seems to lag.  The  problem was I never needed to adjust the time on a iOS device in the past.  So how can you change the time? The following pictures show step by step how to change the time on the iPad.

This is EA games the iPad version of the family game Monopoly.  There are 4 ways to play.

1. Game Play Now – You can play by yourself or with up to 3 different players on the same device.
2. Teacher Mode – The computer plays and gives you tips on how to play the game.
3. Tabletop Mode – You use the iPad as the board and another IOS device can be used to play the game.
4. Local Network Play – You can play within the home network.

The play is cool and you don’t have to worry about the Bank cheating you or someone not paying you correctly when landing on your property.  Lol!

There are 5 different environments you can play. The AI levels are good, the levels range from very easy (the AI will trade Park Ave for 50 dollars) to hard (the AI will never trade you anything you want.) The house rules can be changed from the amount of money you start off with to the Pass Go Salary amount. You can also choose whether or not to have Auctions.

The game flow is okay and the animations help to keep you entertained. Just like the broad game this is not a five or ten minute game. But if you like monopoly this will be a good application to add to your iPad. The regular price for Monopoly HD is $9.99 but if you catch one of EA sales you can get it for a cheaper price.

While everyone is putting up trees and singing carols there is a cool game out for the Android, iPhone and iPad called Angry Birds Seasons.  From the same people that made the first Angry Birds game that everyone loves.

In the game you have the Angry Birds Halloween and Angry Birds Christmas with 25 levels. Unlike the other versions a new level of the game opens every day so today level 21 will open even if you have not completed the previous levels (which I love since I kind of suck at the game). The little presents and Santa hats really put the Christmas feel to the game. So enjoy your holidays and try to get the 3 stars for all the game levels.

The new iPad App of the week Trucks and Skulls. This is a game similar to angry birds but instead of the birds and the pigs you have trucks and skulls.

The game play is simple and clear.  You use the different types of trucks to smash into different types of structures to destroy the skulls.

Trucks and Skulls also has a level maker so you can create your own levels that adds to fun of the game.

Its hooked into the game center from apple so you can add more points to the your achievements.

The cost of the game is $1.99 for the ipad and 99 cents for the iphone version.

Standing outside at some ungodly hour waiting for the store doors to open just to get a few items for a great price? Or are you going to take the online route and save on time with convenience?

This Read & Play Application is great for people with children! It is full of FUN stories and activities for children. An exciting feature with the Stories is that you can choose to have a story read to you by the application or read the story yourself.  There are movie clips of the stories, which any child would find very exciting. The stories “Gone in a Flash” and “Happy King Julien Day” are great stories.

I’m asking my readers to help me with a problem.  I have purchased an extended battery.  I have purchased apps that are supposed to help with power management.  However, when I take the phone off the charger I still use up large amounts of the battery without really doing anything.  I can have the phone in my pocket for hours and take it out to check some emails and notice I am down to 40 percent. I have a app to check usage but it doesn’t make sense; plus I have apps I don’t use taking up CPU for no apparent reason.  The pictures below show you I am using set CPU and System Panel but I don’t see why I keep using all my battery power.

Continue reading »]]> I was beginning to get a little bored with the look of my phone even with the Launcher Pro and the Beautiful Widgets.

While checking out some forums I found a way to change the fonts on my Android. The only downside is that your phone has to be rooted and you can only use one pack at a time. Some of the packs also slow down the OS for some reason, I have not figured out why as of yet. The good thing is that when you install the font pack it is universal. No matter what app you are in even third party apps the font is used in them. So far I have used only 3 fonts but on the forums they have 80 different fonts and counting. I am hoping they will include some of these font packs into some of the ROMs that are being cooked up.

I found these font packs on the xda-developers site just do a search in the Android Themes area.

Continue reading »]]> My EVO Journey continues with making my EVO Internet Browsing experience even better! One of the biggest pieces of news during the last 2 weeks has been the release of the Firefox Browser Beta for the Android devices.

You can check it out at http://FireFox.com/m/beta.  I like the way the Browser has add-ons just like the Firefox PC Browser and it has a way to get bookmarks from your PC running Firefox.  It features the pinch to zoom and has the personalized start page like the PC Browser.

A very nice start for the beta for Firefox but it is still slower than the Browser that came with the phone. It is a very large app (around 40mb).  I do hope the Firefox Team will fix the way the page is formatted on the screen.  If you look at the screenshots below you can see the text is very small.  Even when you pinch to zoom it still does not zoom so that it fits into the page.  I’m hoping that there will be more updates before the final product release.

Beautiful widgets might be the app for you. You can customize the way your clock and weather look on your Android phone.  It’s only $1.48 USD in the Android Market.

So far it has made my Android home screen a joy to look at. It’s an alternative to looking at the same clock day after day. With this app you can search for different styles of clocks and weather icons to match your wallpaper.  I have been using it for a few days and think every Android user should have it on their phone.
