I Enjoyed My 47th Birthday!

I enjoyed my 47th Birthday. Yep! Yesterday October 25th was my 47th Birthday and I’m proud of it! I’m glad to be alive at the age of 47 years old. There are many people who haven’t and won’t live to see their 47th Birthday. I give all thanks to God for my life.

Caramel Cake from Tate’s Place was my choice for Birthday Cake. Sinfully delicious is the only way to describe this cake! Yummy in my Tummy folks!

No big party. Not a big celebration. I spent the day with my Mother and baby Sister. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! We as a family went to the Movies and saw 50/50. There were many laughs during the movie and just a couple of tears on my part. Overall, I really enjoyed that movie choice.

Shopping, shopping, shopping and a little more shopping? No not really. I shopped for a couple of Birthday gift items from my family. I chose a lovely burnt orange leather purse and a pair of 14k Gold earrings. I really appreciated the shopping experience and my loving family for allowing me to pick out my own gifts.

Last but not least we went to Old Chicago to eat. Old Chicago is right down the road from the Shopping Mall and it’s my favorite restaurant. Old Chicago has good food, a nice size menu to choose from and their prices are very reasonable. The food was good and the company was great!

I enjoyed my 47th Birthday!

The person that knows they don’t really mean you well but they’re constantly Wooing in your ear about how much they care about you and how good their intentions are, this is your “Wooer” and “Wooee” beware! Don’t let the distracting Wooing stop you from paying close attentions to their actions. Do their actions in your life have a positive affect on you? Are they a constant source of pain, grief and stress? If they’re constantly accusing you of behavior that you know was neither your purpose or intent, beware! A good Wooer will have you doubting yourself and your true intentions!

Wooers are usually very self-righteous and pretty complimentary of themselves. The only real faults they can see are of course yours. I’m not going to drag this out much further because I’m pretty sure you grasp my point. Don’t allow anyone to come into your life Wooing in your ear. Take control of any relationship that you are uncomfortable with from the beginning, If you’re feeling uncomfortable that is a sure sign that corrective action must be taken immediately. Enjoy your life, it’s your life and life is so very short.

So the next time someone comes along trying to Woo in your ear tell them to get the Woo Woo Woo out of here!

I subscribe to many different natural health newsletters. Most of them report on the same remedies but every once in a while, there is a special report that really grabs my attention. I received this particular bit of information from Natural News regarding high blood pressure. The newsletter talked about studies confirming the beneficial effect of a common vegetable we use today that can affect blood pressure – celery. It was found to decrease a potentially dangerous situation without the risk of possible side effects that might accompany prescribed medication.

Hippocrates, a Greek physician considered to be the Father of Medicine, prescribed the juice of this leafy-topped stalk to patients suffering from nervous tension. Chinese medicine has also long recognized celery juice to reduce high blood pressure. Only recently, has it been studied in the Western world. The University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC) is credited with one of the first studies of celery’s effects on blood pressure. In one instance, the father of a scientist at UCMC experienced a drop in his blood pressure from 158/96 to 118/82 after just one week of eating about four stalks a day.

Celery contains an active compound named phthalides. Phthalides naturally relaxes the muscles in and around the walls of the arteries which cause those vessels to dilate, creating more space inside the arteries that permits the blood to flow at a lower pressure. Phthalides have also been reported to promote a healthy circulatory system by reducing what are known as stress hormones. Celery also contains high amounts of magnesium, potassium, and calcium. The beneficial effects of these minerals serve to calm the nervous system, automatically counterbalancing stress levels.

A physician at the Whitaker Wellness Center and her father decided to test this theory. They both drank celery juice for thirty days, mixing it with a little orange juice to mask the slightly bitter taste of juiced celery. The results proved the theory to be true. The father’s systolic level dropped from 148 to 128, and the physician’s went from 120 to 105.

Who knew celery juice could be so beneficial? It can lower blood pressure AND reduce stress hormones. Because stress hormones are linked to weight gain, it may also help me to lose weight, as well. Interesting…

To your health,

Help us find Lauren

Our daughter, Lauren Spierer, disappeared on June 3, 2011. Every time we write, think or utter those words we are riveted back to the afternoon we received the phone call about her disappearance. It is impossible to explain, as we continue to search for Lauren, what the experience of having a missing child is like. There is no explanation for why this has happened. Imagine learning one of the most important people in your world has disappeared and there is not enough information available from friends and acquaintances to find them. There is no reason to think the people Lauren was last with, wouldn’t do everything in their power to help us find her. But, alas, there is deafening silence. That silence compounds our frustration, our desperation and our grief in not having found Lauren. It threatens to be our undoing but make no mistake, we will never give up. Just as someone in your life is special to you, be it child, friend or family member… Lauren is special to us. As the new school year begins, we hope and pray that more information about Lauren’s disappearance will be forthcoming. We remain in Bloomington for one purpose… TO FIND LAUREN.

Please visit the site to find out more information and ways you can contribute to helping find Lauren Spierer.

I don’t date. I’m not interested in a intimate relationship at all. The emotional abuse that I endured during my marriage has definitely taken a tremendous toll on me. The mere thought of allowing myself to trust or become vulnerable to a man is simply as of today not a possibility in my mind.

I ask, how does a woman survive after divorce? How does she heal her broken heart? Is love a possibility for her after adulterous betrayal? Can she still meet her soul mate?

I really don’t have an answer to these questions. Life is complex and so are women. Some women divorce and before the ink dries on the Divorce Decree they’re dating and enjoying life as a single woman. I’m a slow mover evidently. I’m living life one day at a time. I think I’m surviving quite well. Having a relationship does not make ones life whole or complete. I make my life whole or complete by trusting in God and believing that everyday will bring forth grand new opportunities.

How to Survive, Life after Divorce? One day at a time!

Email was the preferred mode (other than in-person communication) for reaching out to friends and colleagues. Meanwhile, voice via phone was the preferred mode for communicating with family members, such as a spouse or significant other, according to the survey.

The survey by Harris Interactive was conducted online from May 17-19 with 2,361 U.S. adults age 18 and over. It was sponsored by Rebtel, a mobile voice-over-IP provider.

“The more things change, the more they stay the same, and nothing comes close to replacing the familiar sound of a loved one’s voice at the end of the line,” noted Rebtel CEO Andreas Bernstrom, in a comment on the survey.

One of the most significant findings was how much email and phone calls are preferred over social networks, such as Facebook and LinkedIn, and over texting and instant messaging, which are generally heavily favored by teens. Video chat, which is not widely used, fell to the bottom in the ratings.

The findings didn’t show a large difference in using either email or voice with any group. The largest difference between voice and email was for communication with a spouse or significant other, where only 61% of those said they use other technology when not communicating in person. Of those 61%, the survey found that 85% used voice/phone, 58% used texting, and 56% used email.

For work communication, 58% said they would use technology rather than speaking in person. Of that group, the largest number favored email (73%), followed closely by voice/phone (71%) to reach a colleague.

For communicating with friends, respondents favored email (82%) over voice (74%). Communication with family other than a spouse narrowly favored voice (81%) over using email (80%).

Social networks ranked low (23%) when used by spouses to communicate with each other and were highest when reaching out to friends (61%).

Use of video chat ranged from 4% to 13% among those surveyed.

By Rachel King

Google introduced major changes to its mobile and desktop-optimized search engines on Tuesday. One of the more surprising new features was the integration of Google Voice onto the desktop. But will people use it?

At work, the answer is probably no. This would add a lot of useless noise and chatter to office spaces. Can you just imagine if Google Voice actually doesn’t recognize the term someone is saying (even though it is supposed to already know at least 230 billion words) and he/she has to practically scream it into the computer’s microphone? No, that would not be helpful. It would also just waste a lot of time that could have been avoided by typing a few words.

At home, it’s possible. There is less to no need for a headset with a built-in microphone, and users could speak as loudly as they might very well please. Considering Google didn’t discuss much about the volume level of the speaker’s voice, we have no idea if this matters or not. It really could if someone mumbles when whispering or something to that effect.

There are a few instances where Google Voice on the desktop might be very useful, most of which are already depicted in the demo below. One example is when translating between languages. For basic phrases and words, Google Translate has already proven itself to be one of the better online translators available for free.

Another instance would be when someone just happens to be in a hurry and doesn’t have time to sit down and type. That person could search for flight information or the weather, as just a few examples, by talking to the computer (hopefully a bit slowly as a rushed voice would likely cause the search process to take longer) and then just glance at the screen. Then, boom. Done.

One could also argue that Google Voice would be helpful for searching for words and terms when you just don’t know how to spell them. Searching by typing in Google’s browser already leads to spelling suggestions when the entered keyword isn’t recognized. But perhaps the user can’t spell out the sounds as well as he/she could pronounce it. (That’s a bit of a far-fetched example, but it could happen.)

However, at this point in time, it’s difficult to imagine Google Voice on the desktop being as used as commonly as the mobile version. Even Google Voice for mobile isn’t something everyone talks about all the time. I hardly ever see anyone actually use it, at least not on the street. But at least that one makes more sense as anyone who is on-the-go is more likely to want to say a search entry than type one in on a 3- or 4-inch touch screen.

Google Voice for the desktop definitely has more use potential than some of Google’s other creations as of late. But it’s going to be awhile before this new feature becomes a common one.

Via ZDNET

To install Google Voice Desktop, just go here, and download Google Voice Desktop Client. After that, you can sign in to this app using your Google voice login details, and start using Google Voice from this desktop app. via R. Stoeber Group

Blogging for me and many is fun. It’s an avenue to share daily activities, hobbies, interests, and opinions etc. with readers. Some Blogs are private and not accessible to the public but available to the select. The current writing staff here on Brenda Cares Corner write for the enjoyment and for the opportunity to share what they are passionate about with readers.

I think every Blog owner and Blog Writer would love to have their viewer stat numbers off the charts and comments for every article. That isn’t what it’s all about for everyone. I believe that stats and comments are a focal point for Blogs that are geared toward generating income. Blogs are appealing to advertisers when they can generate high viewer stats and comments.

Here at Brenda Cares Corner article comments are not a priority. Why? I don’t want my writers to be concerned or worrying about comments nor do I want to create a competitive environment. I have started placing a email the author link at the end of each article. Many readers will send a direct email before actually posting a public comment on a Blog.

You may not agree with “my conclusion” and that is your right. I want Brenda Cares Corner to be a place where writers can have fun and enjoy what they do.
