Thumbplay On Device Music Store Released With Subscription Model

We told you awhile back that Thumbplay was working on a new music store for BlackBerry devices. The app is on device with OTA downloads and has some serious features that put it toe to toe with 7Digital’s music store. I had a chance to try a prerelease version of the app a few months ago and I was suitably impressed. Downloads OTA were quick and the app lets you stream music from their store.

The real differentiator is that Thumbplay’s music store is a subscription model where the full monthly subscription is $9.99 a month with a free trial for a few days. That means you can stream and download to your hearts content but will lose the songs if you cancel the subscription.

Following close on the heels of Beta-6, Beta-7 (version 0.970) is mostly a bug-fix/stabilization release. This is in preparation for a substantial feature upgrade for Beta-8 which we plan to release in March.

BlackBerry App World Updated to v1.1.0.33

App World just got another small incremental version bump. Daryl let us know that he spotted the update late last night and has been spreading the word.
